hey y'al! just got back from my 3rd sitting w/my tattoo artist.
im wrecked. it was 4 hours 30minutes, and mostly ribs & side.
O.U.C.H.
but it was sooooooooooo worth it, omg, it's going to be AWESOME once it peels and the real color shows through - i even love the way it looks right now!!
i know a thread like this would be useless without photos, but please keep in mind these were taken DURING the process, so my skin is puffy, mottled, weird, swollen and all kindsa raw. it's really lovely. LoL
i'll post more once i can take the bandages off in the morning and clean it up.
i could not be happier - my artist says it'll only be one more sitting - he's going to touch up the color on the cupcake itself, add in white highlights to everything, finish off the last raspberry, and add in some more stars. i'm so stoked i could EXPLODE!!!
ok, enough talk, on to the photos...
...1st pic is what it looked like b4 I went in 2nite
next pic is in progress & the 3rd was taken the second i got out of the chair
...like i said... RAW.

I love it! The colors are very pretty! but oucchhhhh! and that area for me was the worse pain ever!!! but still cant wait to finish mine now.....do you have to wait awhile? I had to wait 3-4 weeks for my second sitting, I hate waiting! well everyone is different but my second sitting was 10 times worse then the first, my artist said its bec it REALLY takes like 6 months to fully heal, so the skin would still be tender, but like you said worth it!...

Very vibrant! I wish they stayed that colorful over the years. And that is indeed a very tender area to choose for canvas! I have one on my upper right back/shoulder and once he started the outline I was cursing myself.
A buddy of mine cried and puked after getting some font on his arm and the artist kicked him out, so give yourself credit for not being a total wuss.

omg my poor Husband. he sat with me the entire time and let me crush his hand...his arm...his leg.... they are not kidding when they tell u ur side/ribs r the worst. holy moley.
but this time i managed to quash the even MORE horrendous post-ink burn w/some icepacks. i have absolutely NO pain right now - which is amazing to me. i dont know why i didnt think of this before.... whoda figured a bit of ice would work better than narcotic painkillers. LoL. After my last 2sittings i spent upwards of 5hours writhing in agony b/c of the intense burning - it was MUCH worse than the tatoo itself, and that's saying a LOT. for ME to take a painkiller is huge - and they didn't even work for me.
i'm going to swear by this ice-pack method from now on.

oh no ur poor friend!!! sux that happened 2him, i don't c why the artist would kick someone out for being sick...that doesn't seem right to me. My artist is extremely accommodating - he's constantly checking in on me, making sure im not holding my breath, offering me breaks if i need them, etc. it really helps having a good support system with you - and eating a protein-rich meal 2hours beforehand works WONDERS as well. being in pain for prolonged periods of time takes a lot of energy. LoL.

Well, Shane was a real problem. And keeping things sanitary is very important, so I don't blame Scott for kicking him out. Shane was making a really big scene... I mean the guy would just about throw up if I picked up a grass hopper and acted like I was going to throw it on him if that's any indication of how squeamish he is.
I'm dying for some more ink. I have an octopus drawn up I want on one of my calves with maybe a big sponge and a starfish or some kind of ocean scene.

That is so beautiful Mimzy!! I love the boldness of the colors

thanx! i'm just floored - i searched high and low for YEARS for an artist who did great color, and no matter how many times i see his stuff, im always taken aback by it.
i'm excited too - color tattoos look icky when they're fresh b/c all the ink has been mushed around and there's dried blood on there and it's all red and raw - once they've healed and peeled all the way, the true color really comes out - i can't WAIT to see what it'll look like then!!!

How far up the east coast are you? I have been looking for an artist that can actually do what I want. It isn't complicated, but the person has to do it right or it will look like hell.

Yeah, why he even thought he could handle getting a tattoo I don't know.
This is what I have drawn up... I photoshopped it to color it and now the suckers are all colored too..shoulda been white. Think it will look neat with the arms wrapped around my leg.

SWEET! i designed my tattoo as well - it feels more like mine that way - even though Ian had to change some things up so they'd go w/my anatomy and my skin coloring, but i was ready for that.... human skin is not my medium. LoL. I'm sure someone could make that look amazing for you.
check out www dot bmezine dot com - theyve got tons of photos on there of tattoos and there r some amazing marine inspired ones - might give u some more ideas!

Sweet, thanks for the link. I was looking for ideas.
Yeah I can't pick something off of a wall or out of a magazine. Must be unique if it's going on my body for eternity.
