I am SOOOO excited my tank is doing something I have new purple algae growth and the nitrites is at .25 (I think thats what it was, too lazy to go actually look) And one sad little loner fish in there.. He LOVES the lunar lights though
You cycled your tank with a fish? Trites will kill a fish. You are slowly killing him. He may not die but its suffering. Trites are worse than ammonia. Whats done is done but fish arent needed to cycle a tank.
Yes sadly I figured this out after the fact. The LPS told me to cycle with a fish! Needless to say I dont go there anymore! Everybody told me to cycle with Damsels, since they are bullies I cycled with Chromis. And 12lbs of live rock. I know the nitrites are bad but after allllll the drama I have had with adding fish too soon Im just excited that something is happening!

Going to disagree here about nitrates...they really don't bother fish much at all..inverts can't take high over 40 nitrates. Fish as a rule could care less.
I WOULDN'T CYCLE WITH A FISH THOUGH.

.25 will have zero effect. trites or trates have little effect on fish. both have to be well into tripple digits before they become toxic to saltwater fish.
