I'm finally getting some change in my tank as far as test results.
PH 8.4 Amonia is still 0 Nitrites still 0 and the Nitrates is 10. Its been 8.2, 0, 0, 0 for weeks. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong with the tests. Still not in any hurry to put fish in it yet. How long did you all wait before adding fish. I'm in the middle of my third week. Still sometime to go I know. Planned on waiting till the end of July before ordering some fish.

I just have LR and LS. I have read alot of different opinions on the dead shrimp. Personally I'm not to thrilled on having dead shrimp floating around in my tank. Plus I'm patient enought to wait as long as I have to. No need to hurry. I've been meaning to pick up some food and do ghost feeding. Just havn't made it to the store. I finally got a weekend off maybe I'll make it this weekend.

If the lr was cured you will need the to shrimp to kick start your cycle, or you mat not get a full cycle in which case when you add your first fish it will send it into a cycle....HTH

Yes it is cured rock. I have heard that. I just don't want to offer up any fish to the cycling gods. So i'll wait till mid July and try a damsel or two. I've read that there pretty hardy fish. Thanks for your help.

you could use a shrimp no need to use a fish..you can get one from the seafood dept. at a super market...Its easy just put it in it will sink and be gone in a few days. and your cycle will start then when all levels are good you can do a water change and start putting fish in...
