wow how much sand do you have in there. looks like it take up half your tank. ????? :eek: rocks look good though

Lol..Ya, the sand does look rather dominant in those photos.
I've got about 4-6 inches throughout the tank.
We'll see how it works out. I'm hoping to create a very "natural" sandbed.

P.S.
I have a 4 inch sandbed in my 40g but it doesn't look dominant like your's. But good idea going with the deep sand bed.

everyone is lol at your sand but from what reasearch ive done...that is a perfect sand bed and your tank will reap the benifits of that deep sand bed.....my next tank will have a deep sandbed like yours....:happy:

Thanks all, and thank Hydro for your support.
Hehe, it is a DSB, but I'm excited by it's potential. I suspect that the grain size and depth is going to allow for great calcium buffering as well as excellent nitrate export. (Not to mention my sand dwelling critters will be in heaven.)
The trade off, of course, is less water cloumn, but I'm not worried about that. Fish live horizontally, not vertically.
