Finally started my tank...

Ok, I have a ~30gal tank (36"x12"x18") any specifcs on that would be nice btw.
Added 20lbs aragonite sand, mixed the salt in buckets and added to the tank.
60lbs live rock and 20lbs of sand from another tank are coming Saturday. Also an Aqua C Remora.
Waiting to toss the shrimp in to cycle until after everything gets put in place. I have one 270gph PH and also have a penguin 330 w/ biowheels. So do I really need a filter at all? I mean w/ that much LR/LS and a decent skimmer is it worth it?
Have to wait for water tests, testkit comes on Saturday too. Should I be heating the water right now? (150W) Should anything be running (skimmer, filter, ph?)
Thanks a lot for everything everyone else has posted on here the last few months, helped me out a lot in getting ready.

You should not need the shrimp if the rock you are going to put in is truly LR, if it is just lace rock or some other porous rock that has not been cured then yes you will need the shrimp, if it is LR then your cycle has already started.
Once you've got the live rock in there then the cycle should be starting. I'd run your skimmer while the LR is doing its thing (this is up for debate some like to run the skimmer during the cycle others do not) and powerheads to keep the water moving.
You should not need that extra bio-filter. The LR and LS should be adequate.
Start heating the water now and confirming your salinity levels while you wait for the LR and LS.
What is your lighting?
Cheers!

lighting is soon to be 110W PC lighting. 1 10000k bulb and 1 actinic(sp). just planning on FOWLR tank right now, maybe in a year or two I'll upgrade lighting and get corals if everything works out alright.
and what is the advantage of running carbon right now?

Carbon will remove some chemical impurities and also help coloration of the water. Probably don't need to worry about running it currently but right before you get some fish it is a good idea. I run about 4 cups in a filter bag in my sump, changed once a month.

If you had enough watts you could use NO for FOWLR. so in other words yes it is enough lol.

I would think so the stuff that needs high lighting is when you get into corals and stuff like that.

I meant besides the shrimp/crabs. Like, is there any lowlight coral/anemone/invert that would do okay in 110 watts 30gal?
