yes sadly in some states you can buy gas and alcohol at the same place. And how does this discourage drinking and driving?
and welcome back to pumping your own gas for a higher price.
ummmmmm actually, at least in the area we live, the gas is CHEAPER than the NJ gas - the Hubbs still commutes to NJ 2days a week, and he fills up HERE b/c it's 4-8 cents CHEAPER per gallon in PA than it is anywhere in NJ

Not sure you should be so excited to be in PA, but I guess if you were in NJ, it's probably an improvement.

I thought you'd get a kick
out of that.

LoL the hubbs & I are still crack-a-lackin' up.

the 870 isn't nearly that nasty to me. It just really smacks me in the jaw so i end up with a bruise, i don't move anywhere - it's the shape of the comb against the shape of my cheek, for some reason I am physically unable to get a tight enough contact to prevent it from smacking me in the face. the original stock never did that to me... ironic, being that the problem stock is recoil reducing

Did the new stock raise the barrel higher, above the center line of the stock? This will cause the barrel to rise rather than push straight back. Actual recoil may be lower, but felt recoil may have increased. And like you said, even with a proper forward stance, your small frame can only hold so much so you are limited in that respect. (I consider that a good thing)
Most women make a better shooter and are easier to teach. Women don't anticipate the recoil as much and don't you feel like you know all there is to know about firearms. Having said that, it's obvious you know your stuff. Men struggle with this. I don't know why, but men seem to think they are less manly if they admit they are not firearm experts.
Speaking of "Hubby", I'm still waiting for the family pic on the front porch of your new home...

hhm... a good question.... i'll have to drag it out from under the bed at some point to check it out. i'll dig the original stock out of the basement too, see where that put me in relation to the barrel. it's a good thing for me to know when i go shopping for future pieces!! I DO know i'm in GREAT form on the Nova. Swings like breeze...oooooh it's so pretty. I know it's a girlie gun and a lotta guys complain it looks too futuristic.... but i AM girlie and i gotta have style, yo.
The Hubbs is from Texas, and he's been an amazing tutor in my journey to marksmanship (an ever ongoing journey), and the best part about learning from him is HIS willingness and PASSION for learning. He agrees with you about the stereotypical "shooting dude." He will be the first one on the range to ask a question or get his laptop out to look something up. ::sigh:: I just loooourve my Man

as for a family pic.... my digicam is broken.
it makes me want to cry every time i think about all the missed photo ops i've had since it's been out of commission.

augh! if it added any more to the length of pull i'd not be able to reach the trigger at all. i've got weird shoulder issues.... i'm right handed, but my LEFT shoulder is a HUGE problem... i had surgery on it a few years ago, and despite yoga and physical therapy, it's simply not what it used to be. Holding up the heavy 12g barrel of that 870freight-train causes me to have the major shakes after 3 or 4 shots, and the reach on the left side is a pain, too.
the recoil was never a problem for me, my right shoulder is fine fine fine. it's just for some reason, on this particular stock, i can't keep my cheek tight to the comb so it bounces during firing, smacking me in the jaw. you might be onto something with the height of the barrel in relation to the height of the comb....
either way, it's not nearly bad enough to keep me from using it if the need arose. ...but i am getting my nova, so i'll have that as my old faithful soon enough

I was born in New Hampshire. And PA was more fun when I was a kid cause there was more to do... it doesn't seem like there's enough for adults to do around here.
