I agree, you should be good with everything excluding the seahorse, and the last thing to put in i would say would be the mandarin, because your system needs to be stably (sp?) increasing copepods. Good Luck

thanks for the input, that stinks that i should put the mandarin in last :( It is the one that I wanted the most but no biggie. Id rather it live and come into the tank later.
I got a $30 GC for ***********.com for buying my tank. I'll probably use that to order my live rock or supplies.

that is what I was going to do but I just realized *********** doesn't sell supplys or test kits.

Ordered the same tank from same place and got the same gc....you can use it on *********** or drfostersmith site...doesn't matter. It doesn't say that on the gc, but I ordered regular stuff and it took. Good luck!

Clowns = okay
firefish = okay
six line = will get very mean and aggressive
Wrasse when added with the clowns will be too much in that tank.
Seahorse = NIMO

i'd watch out for the mandarin. i have one in my 24g and about a month ago i discovered him floating being pushed around the top of the tank by the powerheads and pumps. i placed him in a cup and added some tiger pods that i got from my LFS the next morning. he made a miraculous comback but i almost lost him. i recently added a refugium to the back compartment of my nano to enable the pods to reporduce and keep him fed.
ive also read that even if you have your tank for a while and add a mandarin they can destroy the pod population very quickly.
just something to think about. but they are absolutely beautiful and i love my little guy!!!
also, before you get your tank all set up seriously consider adding a refugium in one of the back compartments. it is a great benifit to your tank and you will be very very very happy you took the time out to do it in the beginning rather than realize later that you should have.
Benefits:
-stabilized pH (hard to do in a nano)
-algae control center( better to grow algae in the back then on the LR in your DT or the glass)
-pod population can breed safely without preditors (keeps all your fish happy)
holler if you have any questions and i can help you set it up. I cant emphasize enough what a good idea this is DOOOO IITTTTTT!!!

yes i decided not to go with the seahorse as they are a species tank only.
Why would the wrasses be to much for the tank?
I didnt know that the six line gets aggressive.

thanks for the input I want a mandarin so bad! Its my #1 fish that I want.
I read a little about refugiums and they still confuse me a bit how to set them up(something like putting crumbles of live rock in the back, but it sounds very beneficial to add one so ill have to figure that out.

definietely figure it out and do it before you fill your tank up with water. i can walk you through the process but i cant stress how happy you will be when you do it. another huge bonus is that usually new tanks have algae blooms that are unavoidable. starting your tank with a refugium will let you beat that new tank problem becasue you will already have a place that your algae loves growing!!!
seriously consider it and holler if u have questions!!!

sorry for such a long time for an update but as we all know this hobby takes money and around the holidays i ran short of that lol.
So hopefully my r/o filler gets to my house tomorrow and I can start my cycle.
My list of things that I have picked up so far.
Power Head
Hydrometer
Reef Sand
Salt
heater
The sand that I got is reef sand but i dont think it is live sand, does anyone recommend switching out the sand for live sand?
Im gonna start on building the refugium.
anything else you can think of that I am missing besides live rock for the cycle? Also how much live rock would i be able to get away with? Should I just get some base rock and add some live rock into it? i know they recommend 1.5 ibs per gallon of live rock.

cubes, i think less rock the better, so your not clogging the view,,,,id go with 2 decent size pieces of base rock and some really cool pieces of live rock, maybe total at most 30lbs....i wouldnt go to much over unless its REALLY porous and light...

I know shame on me
. I'm a broke College student and Christmas tolotslot out of me haha. I also have not been rushig jut to make sure I do everything right and have all the right equipment. I have read a couple times on refugiums but still don't understand how to mod my bio cube I'm more of a visual person so mayb. I just have to check out the back of the biochbe and play around with it.

I'm surprised this thread has been allowed to go on with links to competitors.
I wouldn't risk a mandarin in a 29 unless you get one eating frozen foods already. My six-line is very passive but he also is in a 90g. Doesn't bother a soul. Grats on the tank though

why would you not put a mandarin in a 29 if i built a fuge and had a good supply of pods?
nissan thanks for the link that helped alot! Its not as hard as i thought.
