well i want a flame angel because the color is soo bright red its HOT love it. but im scared to ttake the chance with one on picking on coral. and i dont wanna attempt it and end up taking out all rock to catch the booger. so is there any fish that have that bright fire red color that are totally 100% reef safe. and post a picture of one..
i was looking at the Lyretail Anthias but it says monitor with shrimp so that wont work.

I don't think i would worry about shrimp with a lyretail. But if you want to be sure how about some type of red wrasse. My flasher is pretty red.

Not sure if anything is 100 % reef safe...And IMO, nothing will match the beauty of a healthy Flame Angel...but look at some of the clownfish, hawkfish, dottybacks, anthias and wrasses, Those are generally considered safe with corals with the exception of a few of the wrasses....crustations are a different story.

some of the fairy wrasses have nice red color, like the scarlet pinstripe, and lubbocks. most can usually be kept in small groups and will school with other schooling fish.

When you're at the fish store ask someone to put some coral with the flame angle and see how it's reacts?
Keep it well fed so it doesn't have to eat anything

I would also monitor your local reef keeping hobby sites. YOu might be able to pick up a flame from someone taking down a tank, and know first hand how it has behaved.

I've got a flame in my 125g thats loaded with zoa's, LPS and he's never touched a thing. Pretty small when he arrived, maybe 2" and he's like the perfect fish. I would think that if you got a smaller one that might help.
