Fire Shrimp Died... how long do they live

Well, my Fire shrimp was activing wierd for 3 days and today when I got home, he was died. How long do these guys normally live? I tested my tank and everything looks good, but, why the death?
The only thing odd in my tank is that my star polyps are closed and have been for about a week.
Tank is about 5 years old and established....

Nevermind.. found out 3-4 years in captivity. and I would say he's a good 3 years old.

Can you post your readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, Sg, and temp? There is a reason that your polyps are closed and your shrimp just died. The shrimp may have been old, I don't know how long you have had him. Let's just check everything to be sure.
