Firefish hidding

My Red Firefish goby has been hidding in his hidaways for three days now and hasent came out or eaten in that time. The other fish are just doing fine Yellow tang and 2 blue yellow tails damsels is all. All coarls are doing greats and my water is great. The water temp did get up to 86 the day before he started to hide, temp stays around 78 to 81. I can see him in his cave and turns around and still see it breathing what seems to be at a normal rate.
Anyone know if this is normal for them and how long can he go without food?

He might be nearing the end without food, but I know this isnt uncommon for them to hide for a long time while first being introduced to a tank.

It's very possible that he could be getting bullied as well by another fish or crab..if youve had him for a while you might consider forcing him out...i had two purples that got bullied and hid...i thought they died but i ended up seeing one in their hiding place and ending up getting him out..i then qt'd him in a container to try and get him calm and eating..unfortunately he escaped back in the tank, and never saw him again

I tryed messing with him tonight and he seems to move around just fine. I tryed to push some brine srimp down there to him, he likes it best, but he never ate any that I seen. As I was shining the light down there he started moveing out some and looked just fine. He has tangled with the yellow tails and has allways stood up to them in less they have a batch of eggs going. He might just be tired of being picked on and is hidding, don't know why the dumb fish just dosent move to the other side of the tank where no one has set up home?
I will try and move him out tomarrow.

Ok this is kinda funny but the wife said the firefish came out today and had some lunch and kinda stayed close to his hole. He still stays in his hole most the time but is starting to come out more. The funny part is that it might be his little buddy that I put outside his hole, that made for him while he was in the QT tank 3 months ago.
Now thats got me thinking that I should get him a real buddy, but I hear that they don't get along with others unless mated? Or has anyone put a purple firefish with a red?

That fish is scared. He is finally poking his head out to eat, which is good. That stick is outside of the tank. I highly doubt that enticed him to come out. You have a YT and damsels in there. He will become reclusive if he stays with bullying tank mates.

I agree, those yellow tails got to go. They are f@$%^ fish and firefish are very timid. I have 4 purple ff and they fight occasionally with each other. They did hide for almost 2 weeks after getting them, I started with 6. I don’t know why I buy this ff as every single one I have bought eventually jumps out. These I have had for almost a year now!
Don’t try to scare them out that will just stress even them more. Try to put food near the hiding spot to get them to come out.
