I might go out and buy my first coral today. What is a good coral for a beginner and what chemicals would I need to purchase? I already use Ca, Sr, and I. My lighting is 2x65 130 watt PC's.

I disagree. His tank only contains 130wts of power compacts -- that is not enough to sustain most SPS, however, there are of course some exceptions. I would never recommend an SPS to be added as someones first coral; SPS are difficult to care for, require ample amounts of current, strong lighting (I prefer metal halides), and need pristine water quality. I would not buy any
SPS for your tank.
Arent those corals expensive and not too beginner friendly? Is xenia a softie or a SPS?
Xenia is in the family Xeniidae, which is classified as a soft coral.
If you're interested in easy to keep corals, I would highly recommend Corallimorphs (Mushrooms) and anything in the genus Zoanthus (Zoanthids), Palythoa (Button polyps), Sarcophyton (Leather coral), and Sinularia (Leather coral). Once your tank has matured more and you've gotten more experience, you would be able to possibly venture into keeping large polyped scleractinians (LPS) which will include Euphyllia sp. (Frogspawn, Hammar, Torch, etc.)

My tank has been running for 5 months now. I have a Aqua C Remora for filtration with 50 lbs of LR. Also have 2 maxijet 400's for circulation. Im about to go to the LFS to get either shrooms, polps, or xenia. Would I need any special chemicals for these softies, or what I'm supplementing already is fine?

I just bought my first coral, and it's nw in my tank. I settled with getting green ricordea. I still have some beginner questions on coral.
1) How do you know a coral isnt stressed from acclimation.
2) My coral is six frags on a flat rock, how do I separate the frags and reattach them to my LR.

chances are it is stressed from acclimation. let it be for a week or so, and it will begin to get used to its new environment. signs of stress for a ric would be it closing up, or not opening to its full extent.
I would not frag them if I were you, not yet anyway. I would set the rock in the tank. Then when they grow some more and you know what your doing, then try to frag them.

Ok so I should let the plate be? The ricordea was a little shriveled up, but now it looks like its flattening out (which I guess is a good sign). Where would a good place be to put this plate until I frag the ricordea off it? BTW there are six pieces of ricordea attached to their own individual rocks which are all attached (more like glued to) to this large plate.

I was gunna tell you to put a rock next to the rics, but, sinse their glued to a big rock, they can be broken off. But, wait until they have settled in.
IMO, place them near the bottom for now. With your lighting they should be fine.

So would the bottom floor be fine for now? Right now I have them at the very top but I dont think it's stable; I can just picture a mex turbo just knocking the whole plate right off.
