i might be recieving a Kenya Tree coral and somme Green star polyps from one of my moms co-workers. what type of lighting do they need?? i only have about 40 watts in a 55 gallon tank but i will be upgrading soon. will this be enough?? and are these pretty hardy corals?

wait to receive those until you upgrade your lighting. you are no where near the capacity of lighting to maintain corals. wait until you can get about 275 of VHO, at least.... the kenya is a soft coral and needs medium to high flow and light. as well as the polyps need about the same...

that is a question that is commonly asked and just as often debated. I have 196 of PC on my 40 breeder. And that is enough to keep both those corals. But the thing is, my tank is only 16 inches high, and a foot shorter, so the light is more compacted. I think 275 of VHO or 260 of PC would be a good start.

oo.... but yes. definatly wait until you are able to upgrade your lighting. Thos corals will not last long AT ALL with taht lighting you already have.
