Hello Everyone,
I am encountering my first Disease (hopefully not) in my tank. I currently have in my tank 2 Clarkii Clowns, A tomatoe Clown, Koran Angel, Red Sea Sailfin, Diamond Goby, and 3 Stripe Damsel. The problem is with the Larger of the Clarkii clowns.
He has a red bump on his forehead looks like a pimple. He also has some wierd discoloration in his face. not ich or flesh degredation just a different color. I have not decided if this was a drastic change or maybe it happened over a period of time and I never noticed cause I never looked that close. He has deffinatly changed from yellowish orange to almost completely brown (except for the belly) since I got him 3 months ago.
Anyway he has the red pimple on his forehead, He is breathing heavy, he is not aggressive during feeding anymore, (I feed them frozen brine but he hasnt wanted to get in the frenzy with the rest of the fish recently so I feed him flake on the other side of the tank), he also seems to have lost some coordination. I saw him swim right into the glass this morning.
I have checked for signs of Ich since this seems to be the most common disease. None of the other fish are showning any signs of abnormality.
This strange behavior has started to occur since I added the red Sea sailfin. Before the sailfin he was the dominant fish in the tank. The sailfin I added is larger. Is it possible that this is just stress from loosing the dominant role. The sailfin was added almost 2 weeks ago.
Also I do not currently have a QT soes this sound like a disease that could be contageous, do i need to rush out and setup a QT to save the rest of my fish.
I will post pictures and water stats later tonight.
At the last reading they were
Temp 79
Salinity 1.0225
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20ppm
PH 8.1
Calcium 400
Thanks Guys
Brian
