PIC 1 55 gal
Just received the 25 lbs of LR from SWF yesterday and placed it right away. I already had 8 lbs of LFS LR. Quite a difference between LFS and SWF rock. A lot more coraline and living things on the LFS LR, but twice the price. I'd like everyone's opinion of this. SWF rinses off a lot of stuff.

As you can see an inwall setup - its my first reef. I did a 10 gal with 5 lbs of LR for 10 months now and feel I can advance to the larger size now.

Im sure the rock at the LFS gets rinsed off as well its just it had more time in a tank to grow new stuff That would be my guess

the back.. using a sea clone skimmer - actually its working great I think. After 2 days the top cup was full of yellow liquid -I'm assuming it was unwanted contaminates in the water. Lots of foam..

Looks sweet doodle!! I would also second the comment about your LFS rock having more time to have stuff growing on it - give it time and it will all look good. You might also look into hawaiian island base rock to help build up rock in you tank.

Wife said to me last night - this is costing a lot of money!! (she has no idea I just spent $110 on a bunch of rocks, $180 total in the past 2 days..). I just looked at her and said, "there's an initial cost, then we sit back and relax". Haaa.....right...
What I was thinking was - as much as your clothes cost, honey.....
(19 years married - we're ok)... :D

Looking good! As to adding more LR let me say that less may be best. If your plan is for a reef, you want to have more space for corals and coral growth rather than rocks. Also, there are some animals that you may give some sand space to.
I actually got too much LR for my tank and wish I had much less.

ok - noted (LR quantity).. and I do have a coral background - already up, but might change it to a solid blue one instead...

I just checked out LR from SWF and it does have things growing on it. Don't know what they are - one growth is a silver dollar size, off-white color colony of sponge like looking things. A snail - white with black dots (polyp safe?0.. and some coraline spots - looks nice.
