Yay! After saving my money for 3 months I started my very first saltwater tank. I have always wanted to do one and as soon as I gazed into my brother-in-law's 5.5g nano I got hooked. My wife thought I was stupid for staring at a few rocks and alge but I didn't care. I have been reading all of the threads on this forum hoping to make educated equipment buys, well atleast what my budget would permit. The first thing i learned is everthing in saltwater in is expencive. The 2nd thing is, the more pics the better.

Yup test kit most improtant. Also I have heard some bad reviews about the Hydor Theo heaters. A better option would be a Stealth.
Come on let's get that sand in and some rockwork and get the cycle started!!!!!

looks like you are off to a good start, remember though PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE : D looking forward to see your progress

Thank you all for your comments. (Whisk)Yeah I was rather proud of myself when I came up with my name lol. (Spanko)And I'll look into a stealth heater and maybe use the hydor for a backup.

I'm the brother-in-law that got him hooked
.
This looks much better than the cellphone pic you sent. Seeing all your new stuff is making me anxious for my stuff to get in. Can't wait to see it in person.

Yeah I knew i couldn't get away without a background for long. I have a few questions about the filter, first is the media setup right now is the sponge thing on the bottom and then all I had room for was the chemipure. My other question was it seems to make bubbles, how much is to much. I tried to do a bit of aquascaping, hard to do with three giant rocks not a lot of options. I'll do a pic later today.

Google this and go to the first result. Just an option for you. This is for the 70 but might just work with the 50 also.

Well I tested my water yesterday not that i thught i would see anything but more to see how to do it, just like I thought all 0's well not all the Ph was 7.9.
So far I have had a few minor issues with my powerhead, the first was the impeller stopped utill I bumped it, and the other was this morning it was humming loud so i took it apart cleaned the magnet and then it was fine.
I plan to buy a stealth heater when i can, is there a difference good or bad between the deluxe or the standerd?

Maybe its your waterfall from the aquaclear try turning it off and seeing if the bubbles go away or your powerhead is too strong...

I know the bubbles are coming from the filter, I just need to channel the return flow. I got a few Ideas but need some stuff from homedepot.
Are you getting close to starting your project Cal?
