Oh no when ever I breed I will set up grow out tanks, along with phytoplankton and the rotifer cultures needed to feed the clown larva

I wouldn't try and keep all the fry in the nano heh, I am new to Saltwater not to fish keeping in general. Thanks for looking out though

No not yet, ammonia still sitting around 1, I'm waiting for ti to drop before I test for trites. But my friend is picking up a 55g tomorrow night so that will be fun, and we are driving to Chicago to pick up a wicked find off of craigslist so that will be not so fun. But it will be time to catch up on the readings for class I have missed because of my choice to obsess over these forums.

Its a 75g with stand, some ridiculous sump, a $700 skimmer, 75lbs of LR and some other stuff for $400.
My friend is going to get it, he has already sold the skimmer for $350 so everything else is practically free he will probably piece out the tank, keep the LR and maybe trade the sump for one he wants to use.

I think for my goby I would like to go with the 4-wheel drive (2 spot) goby. Anyone know if this would be ok? Also the site doesn't have them in so I put in a request... any clue how long it might take them to get one?

Looks fantastic though, and it sounds like you are off to a great start!
Mandarins are something that should be left in the ocean IMO. They can kill a pod population in a tank in like a few days flat. I would say unless you have a TON of LR, or a big refugium, no mandarin.

So I have run into some issues. Today while I was failing twice at building an overflow out of acrylic I decided to try some other mods on my tank. I usually sit pretty low in my chain so I can typically see the water line behind the rim of the tank. In order to raise my levels higher I needed to extend the first baffle behind my false wall so the water could raise higher. After completing this my tank looked like...

And this is where I ran into my next problem, I saw this...

This is a photo of where my false wall meets the glass at the sides of my tank, as you can see it is not sealed. This leads to flooding of the Filter section of my cube and I think it takes away from what I am trying to accomplish by extending baffles and adding a surface skimmer. My question is... will these leaks cause inefficiency in my filter system and should I drain my tank completely to silicon the cracks to make a seal?

Anyway my ammonia still has not dropped, which is fine by me but I think I have some sort of hitchhiker...

What are the beige growths on my clam shell? They are fleshy and produce a sort of mucus in small amounts.
Next I think my coralline algae is starting to spread over my LR... confirmation anyone?

Well this is all the news as of now. I'm still hoping to get my CUC early next week is parameters are good. Any suggestions on what I should do about the false wall will be greatly appreciated as I would like to get it done ASAP so my tank can finish cycling.

Anyone have any ideas on the part between the false wall and the glass? If I need to tear down the tank and silicon it I would want to do it today... Should I leave it as is or bust my butt to get it done? Would it make a difference?!?!

leave it and the overflows how they are. the thing i learned with my nano is dont mess with it. a normal tank you can mess with but every time i mess with my nano i mess it up. and my silicone is just like yours on the false door

All my parameters are good! That cured live trick sure helped me out. I went ahead and got 1 emerald crab, 1 black turbo, and 4 blue hermits. How many more of each should I get? should I get some red hermits as well or are they replaced by the emerald crab? (btw I have a rock covered in hair algae and this morning he had eaten all of it! wow they work fast!)
I'll get some pics up soon. I wa thinking of a total of...
10-blue hermits
10-red hermits?
1-2- black turbos
5-10- other snails??
1- emerald crab (should I get 1-2 more?)
Is this too much for a 12g? Help me out

let your tank go for a little bit. if you start seeing for algae then just look up what eats what

I'm having some trouble with bristleworms since I added a new piece of LR. I know I could get an arrowcrab to take care of them but is my tank too small to house one comfortably, I have hermits, and an emerald already and plan on stocking with a 2-spot goby and a pair of clownfish. Are there any other options to getting rid of them via livestock? or should I just get a trap?

A lot is going on. I just rearranged my LR, water params are good and I'm ready to get my first coral/fish! Now its valentines day and my valentine is taking me to the local SW store to look around. I have decided that I want a pair of clowns and a goby to keep in my reef. The goby I wanted was the 2-spot goby but it is advised to have a minimum tank of 20-30g, is this correct? Should I forgo this goby for another more suited to a 12g? If I find any awesome ones at the store I might pick it up but I did have my heart set on the 2 spot
