Hey guys I just got my first tang today!! He's so cool. He gets along great with my 6 line wrasse and scooter blenny. He doesn't like my Coral Beauty though. He's a regal blue hippo tang. Does anyone know what these guys like to eat?

You will need to get some seaweed sheets. They need to have this also. Also,it's a good idea to start adding vitamin suppliments to your water. STEVE

Steve, what do think is a good vitimin or supplement for tangs?
The only greens my tangs like is romaine! And yes, I've tried the seaweed [nori], broccoli and even carrots and peas! LOL
To respond to the post...go for the green veggies, weather its frozen, flaked or live. Tangs must have this. And, since they are grazers, you need to get a lettuce clip and use it for lettuce or seaweed. Tangs are not happy unless they can pick at something every waking moment.

Well I have a veggie clip and I have "SeaWeed Selects". He doesn't seem to be interested in the seaweed but is devouring my MacroAlgea as I speak. I had a lot of macroalgea but now I have almost none. The Coral Beauty is just as bad. Mr. Salty I would also like to know what vitamins I should add. Also I paid $20 for him did I get a good deal?

I just bought a Regal tang too!!! They are browsers and must have greenery - I bought mine to keep the caulerpa and hair algae (I have been adding magnesium lately) under control. They will also take meat foods. Good luck - they are a cool fish!!
I paid £20 for mine - a bargain in England.

I find it hard to believe that your fish dont like the dried sheets. Mine have gone nuts for the stuff since I've had them. As for vitamin suppliments,I swear by ZOE,by Kent marine. It has done a miraculous job clearing the HLLE my Sailfin had. I also use Coral-Vite weekly. STEVE

This brings me to my last question. As of right now I have a 1 inch Coral Beauty, a Quarter inch six line wrasse, a 1 inch scooter blenny, and a quarter inch regal blue tang. My problem is these fish are in a 20 gallon tank. Now I know this may sound crazy but right now all my levels are perfect and the fish are doing well. I will have a 70 gallon breeder tank set up by March. This should give me enough time to get the fish out of there before they get to big.
I bought a protien skimmer and things are going smoothly. My question is that " Do you think These fish will be all right until March?"

That may be pushing it,but if they are only 1/4 inch,I'd be more worried about them getting sucked into the filter,or skimmer. STEVE

If you bought a tiny regal that is probably why he isnt going crazy over the seaweed. He probably does nt know what it is yet and may be afraid to try it yet, as most regals are shy and like to hide under rocks. You can try OSI spirullina flakes for his greens for now.
