One suggestion. Skip the damsels and use a piece of raw shrimp. It will start the cycle process faster than the damsels, and will not kill fish durring the process. Also once the damsels are in its a pain to get them out. Also if you add LR or LS this will start the cycle process as well.

If you have CC change it over to sand now. I didn't realize the advantages of a DSB when I started my tank. It will be less work to maintain and will provide numerous benifits.
Welcome to the hobby. It will be frustrating at times, but the results are worth it.

please dont get damsels just to cycle your tank. they are a hardy pretty starter fish that will grow and be happy in any tank. (as long as noone eats them) too often i hear of damsels that people want to die so they can get their "real fish". i like the shrimp idea ar live sand works well. be careful how many fish you add at a time as the nitrate spike will take those not strong enough. <img src="graemlins//angel.gif" border="0" alt="[angel]" />
