First tank setup question?

okay how much argonite/substrate do i need. I have about 3" inches in the tank now is that to much. I wanna have stars and sand sifting critters. Let me know if i have enough in there if you need a pic let me know

i actually have crushed coral in my tank (29 gallon) instead of argonite but i have a little over 3"
you probably have enough imo but ive seen some have as much as 4" or 5"
