What am I forgetting/missing. Ive got to take this slowly and step by step. Dont have the money to throwdown all at once. Planing on setting up with the LR and letting the tank cycle and just watch bubbles (I know, not supposed to be any) untill the wife and I can save up and add critters. Any who, heres the list:
Tanks
90Gallon Main48x18x24
20 Gallon Sump24x12x16
20 Gallon Sump Alt.30x12x12
Furniture
StandModern Series Black Finish
CanopyModern Series Black Finish
Pumps/PowerHeads/Skimmer
Supreme MagDrive 950 GPH600GPH w/5' head
3x MaxiJet 1200 PH (295GPH)1180 GPH
ASM G-1X 250GPH250GPH
Live Rock/Live Sand
50lbs Live Rock
60lbs Base Rock
40lbs Sand
Misc items
Red Sea Nitrate Test
Red Sea Nitrite Test
Refractomter
Captive Purity 35 GPD Compact RO
How long should it take for the base rock to become live? And what am I forgetting?
Thanks guys and gals. Great board here.

good luck!
bubbles are fun and good. the bubbles are the live rocks denitrification of the nitrates into harmless gaseous release. a good thing!

i would use koralia 3's instead of mj1200's, or atleast purchase the mod kits for the mj's.
what is- asm g1x 250 gph 250 gph?
the sedra 3500 that comes with the G1X is 350 gph (i used to have one...good skimmer for the money!). you are using the standard sedra 3500?
i also think you can get away with the mag7 instead of the 9-5. unless you are really pushing water 5 feet high.
i think the base rock will become live rather quickly, if it's in the same container that the live rock is being cured in. bacteria should populate that rock right away, with all the ammonia in that water!
btw- you should get an ammonia test too.

Your skimmer needs to be bigger. That is ASM's smallest model (except nano skimmer). I'd recommend at least G2, preferably G3.

Definately get more live sand. You should have at least 1 pound per gallon. You need a good deep sand bed for the biological filter. And also get an ammonia test and pH test kit.

Welcome to SWF.
Base rock will be LR once cycled. What are your plans for this tank, FOWLR, aggressive, or reef? What lights are you running?

I'll look into the koralia 3's. And what do the mj mod kits do?

That is what we call a cut and paste typo coupled with a regular typo. I ment 350 gph. Do the skimmers flow numbers factor in complete tank flow numbers?

Well, from the bottom of the sump to the top of the DT is about 3.5 feet. Add in the plumbing restrictions, and I was planning worst case.

Even tho the G-1X is rated for a 150g tank, and Im only going to have 110g?

That 40lbs is supposed to give me about an inch of depth in the DT. Not deep enough?

Its going to start life as a FOWLR, then over time we will migrate it to a Reef.
and ACK! Forgot lights! Gonna have to go research those.

150g is the manufacturers rating, but the actual rating is for 75g.
PM me if you want to see a list of all popular skimmers, what their manufacturer rating is and what the actual tested rating is.
I would not go for anything smaller than G-2 for 110g...

If the tank isn't drilled, you're going to need an overflow(or 2). Also probably want to add some sort of temperature gauge to the list as well as a heater, and/or fans/chiller if doing high powered reef lighting. Get a larger sump if you can fit one in the stand, rather then 2 sumps. 20 gallon minus the space you lose to prevent water seepage in the event of a power outage doesn't leave you with a whole lot.

btw- you don't need to use live sand as part of your filtration. you don't need any sand at all if you don't want it.
i much prefer about an inch covering the bottom, unless of couse you will have sand dwellers. also, do not buy live sand. buy dry, sugar sized aragonite based sand. the live stuff in bags is a waste of money. the dry sand will become live soon enough.
mj mod kits turn 295gph maxi-jets into 1200gph powerheads.
