well i have a 75 gal fowlr it has 100lbs or rock in it with about 5 coves for the fish to hide in. i have a porc puffer that is my fav fish by far. when i was at my lfs they had a puffer tank with a trigger in it. i then say a huma huma below that tank and asked if they would be compatible. i have read a few places that the huma huma are a LESS AGRESSIVE trigger. and the lfs told me that they should be fine in the same tank that is as large as mine (75gal). i have had the huma huma in the tank for about an hour and hes already turning into a bully... he is only my secound fish so i dont really know what is normal for them getting to know each other. he is making lundges at the puffer and i even witnessed him kind of boot the puffer out of the other cave with his back fin . this cave he was not at first even interested in at first as he went for the bigger one. is this normal for the first hour or do i need to be worried about it? they both are about the same size fish and i do have the lights off...
any help would be great
thanks

How big are these fish?
A 75 is going to be quite cramped with both of them., particularly as they mature. In many cases, triggers and puffs are a bad mix. Huma triggers are mid range on the aggression scale with some being social and others having potential to be very aggressive. This increases with size.
Since the trigger has only been in the tank a short time, watch for undue aggression over the next couple of days. It should not turn into an all out bloodbath and should ease up once the fish get used to each other's presence. Be prepared to move one if things get ugly.

they are bout about 1 1/2 long . i think im more stressed then the puffer. i have a qt already with the triggers name on it. and its only been 2 hours . should i let them be over night? and see how they are tommarow or will it only continue to get worse?? if it will get worse ill get the trigger in the qt right now

Unless there is real physical aggression, let them be. Leave lights out (both should retreat for the night). Both are small and may just be posturing for dominance. Just don't let either get injured. My guess is it will work itself out but you'll need to watch them closely.

im going to let them be for now then . i wont be able to watch them really untill tomarrow night as i will be asleep and leave for work at 5am and wont be home till 430. like i said the triggers just more lundging at the puffer and the puffer does have his spot but hes a pushover... the lfs had the trigger in a 40 with a lot of other fish thats the main reason i thought he would be ok . i guess all we can do is see...
thanks for the help!!!

First off please get the name right, its HUMU HUMU short for HUMUHUMUNUKNUKUAPUAA. Trying saying that, LOL!
When I first started the hobby back in 99 I had a 75 with a porcupine puffer, volitan lion, HUMU HUMU, clown trigger and a

. Yeah did not know much but the LFS said they would all be fine in that size tank. They were pretty small so they could still swim, did not know what a bio-load was at the time. They were all fine the clown was the dominate one and everyone nipped at each other for the first week or so and then it was a good. Well, I got a stone fish and he ate everything except the puffer! I was gone for 2 days and came back all all fish were gone?
