Fish and tank size...............

Well, I know we always talk about what fish needs what size tank.....
How come at most lfs you see large hippo, angel, tangs, etc, in small tanks such as 20 gallon and i've see them in there for months at a time till sold..
now don't get me wrong i agree that fish need their specific size tanks to swim in, but how come these fish live?

At the lfs, the fish are stressed in those small tanks and they put the salinity way down to ward off any pests such as ich. This is one of the ways they get a way with it. Recently, I saw an angel who should have been in a 125 G but was in a 20 G tank.

reason they keep them in these tanks is they are suppose to be sold as quickly as possible and they don't plan on having them for very long. most lfs have huge filtration systems attached to these tanks too which helps with the bioloads.
