Can anyone tell me what a healthy fish faeces looks like, and if it is hanging form the fishes vent for a long time before it all comes off, does this mean it has constipation?

This topic is disgusting
so I'll give an answer.
My sailfin tang has blowouts. Particles floating everywhere.
Anthias is as you described you above.
Hawkfish is as you described you above.
Copperband butterfly is as you described above.
my yellow tang and sailfin tang both have blowouts! Other then that, if it looks long and stringy, most of the time it's alright.
Like someone said earlier, check out Beth's thread.

It should not be hanging from the fish's anus. What does it look like? White and stringy or greeninish brown? Most salt fish do it quickly and you never see it, from the water flow. What is hanging from your fish? Are you referring to the anus as a "vent" or is it comming from some place else?
most of the time they have blow outs, but my emperor mostly has solid stools, sometimes they are greenish brown and occasionally transparent/whitish they hang out of it's anus for abit, sometimes for an hour or so, and sometimes they just rall right off. But the majority of the time they are solid/semi solid or at times stringy.
