fish food

I posted this in the aggresive forum, but only got one responce. I would like to see some other opinions.
I got my first two aggresive fish last night. A spotted puffer and a Niger. I plan to add a porc puffer and a Maroon clown and some sort of eel later down the road(4-6 weeks). I bought some frozen mysis shrimp also. What would be the best thing to feed them. I have heard about people making their own food and freezing it? Also how do you unthaw the food. Soak it in fish water for a few minutes? Also how much to feed these guys.

Someone has to have an opinion. So far I feed them frozen mysis shrimp from the LFS. Frozen, not cooked shrimp from the grocery store. I was also looking at scallops?
anything else

I have no idea what kind of food to feed your fish, though if they need meaty stuff, you can buy frozen beef heart. Not from the butcher, but from your LFS assuming they sell it.
The way I defrost my food is just putting the cube in a cup, putting in just a little bit of drinking water (though I don't know if it's good or bad for the fish, I think it's better than just using tap water) and setting it on my cover. There's a warm spot from the light, so it defrosts the food in a few minutes.

how big is your tank? I wouldn't recommend mixing pufferfish together unless thats a huge tank and maroon clownfish are MEAN
as far as food goes I think the larger the variety the healthier your fish will be. Do you have a local wal-mart supercenter near you?
If so I go there when I run out of my frozen mix I make myself, I buy about a pound of their seafood mix that contains octopus legs, squid, crab, shrimp, oysters, scallops, etc. and I take this home, blend it up, add garlic juice (which you can also find at wal-mart) then I put it in zip lock bags and seal so the air is out and then I roll it flat with a rolling pin and freeze.
I love this stuff for like $5 you can get a ton of food that lasts for a long while. Also I feed Brine Shrimp with advanced formula and a special blend my LFS makes that contains cow heart (protein) seaweed, and garlic. I don't know what they put in this stuff other than those three ingredients but my fish go nuts and I have no objections, its great stuff!
I also started feeding a little bit of frozen krill every now and then and flake food.
My best advice would be to keep it varied and don't over feed, I feed every other day and its usually plenty, also be careful with mixing an eel and a pufferfish, I've read posts about bad run ins between the two species on here :(
good luck and I hope that helps you somewhat!

Thanks Lion
I have several Walmarts around, I will check that out, it sounds easy enough.
Currently I have a 55 set up, I also bought a 125 and I am in the process of building a stand and canopy. Do you have an opinion a Green Wold eal?

hmm i would stick with just one puffer for the 125 gallon, mixing pufferfish species in that small of a tank wouldn't be a good idea plus pufferfish can get big so chances are your spotted puffer will need all the room he can get, good luck with the food :)
