Fish Growth Question

Does anyone have an estimate on the average growth of Tangs (Yellow or Hippo) and a Porcupine Puffer?
I'm just curious, If you buy a Blue Hippo Tang or Yellow Tang as a baby...(1 inch) how long untill it reaches an average size? Are we talking months or years?
Same question for the porky. Most i've seen at LFS are 2-3 inches. How long do these fish take to grow?

the growth rate varies from system to system - typically they will grow quickly in their first year (mother nature's way of insuring survival) and slower from that point on. 1st year could be up to 3 in growth after that as little as one inch per year.

The puffer will grow pretty quick, maybe 4 or 5 inches from 2 inches in the first year. Then will slow down after that.
