fish growth

I am getting a fifty-five gallon tank and i was thinking about getting a vermiculated angelfish. Do most fish grow depending on the size of your tank or do they just keep growing naturally?

from what i've heard they just keep growing to how big their supposed to get, most ppl on this site seem to think

I have also heard the same thing.
Fish never stop growing. However, stress (from keeping the fish in too small of a tank) will slow its growth rate down and the fish may never get to its typical maximum as it may not live long enough to get that big.
