I have recently placed fish in a 45 DAS. Yellow tang, maroon clown, and a few other inexpensive reef fish(dominoe something). All of them hide whenever anyone approaches the tank. Is this normal? any help would be appreciated, as you probably can tell that I'm a newb. thanks, Mike

Mike, no worries they'll get used to it. They're just in a new enviroment and got some goofy looking guy starring at them all the time.
it won't take long until they know where the food is coming from. :D
domino damsel, and keep an eye on it. Like all damselfish, they can be territorial and aggressive, especially as they get older.

yea if there brand new fish they are scared of you for like the first couple of days. it helps if theres already an established fish in the tank cuz they can see that hes not afraid

YUP. Like I say, they are in "denial". This goes on for a coupke of days like they said. BUT, that Yellow Tang MIGHT be too large for yer tank. Just watch his behavior and make usre you feed it seaweed twice a day, plus mysid shrimp. This makes a great diet fro yello tangs. You MUST simulate natural grazing behaviors in the wild though by feeding it seaweed twice a day. You can buy a clip for it, or rubberband a chunk to a rock.

My algae blenny is STILL scared to death of me, and Ive had him for about as long as Ive had my yellow tang, which is about a couple of months. Longer even I believe. He hides everytime I come in. LOL, I call him "buddy". Pretty ironic, right?
