That is some type of damsel but I have no idea what that might be. I have a damsel that I can't identify either. Looks like its rare.

a garibaldi is a damsel and get to be about 2 ft. in lenght and changes from female to male and males are bright orange and are very very aggressive and will need chilled water because they live in the californian coast were the water is cold

did the lfs have a name for it or did they have no clue to what it was either? If you see a fish that you have not seen before on the market, buy it because chances are you will not see it again.

Well it looks pretty. If you cast netted it out then probably you will never find the answer to what it is. I have three little fish in my tank that I got from the keyes that I have no idea to what they are either and they are doind great. Theyr'e good sand sifters.
Look closely and you should see them. BTW, this was when I was first setting up my tank so I had only 15 lbs of lr and regular flourescents.

yup, it's feeding, I put some cyclopeeze in the tank and it appeared to eat them. It also appears to be picking at the LR. focuses in and then BAM! takes a bite. I have been noticing alot more copepods on the glass since the six line wrasse came out. However I am not sure the diet of a damsel.
It is 3/4" long fish in a 90 gallon with a lawnmower blennie, mollie miller blennie, 70 blue leg hermits, some snails, gold coral banded shrimp , coral frags, and a few starfish. the fish has the run of the tank, every once in a while the mollie miller will chase it off.
Just got the wrasse out a week ago, could not put ANYTHING in the tank, killed everything, snails, shrimp, hermits, fish, feather duster cluster , was not one copepod visible on the glass.
Going to a reasonable fish store tomorrow, hopefully he has something good, before the little guy gets too comfortable,

There is a newer store in Boca called Aquarium world...ment to be pretty good! Id stay away from the barrier reef if I were you....cute little guy though! catch a few more and see if any of hte LFS's will give you some credit for them! you never know...people are always looking for something different. If you head more down towards Ft Laud, let me know I'll tell you where all the good stores are down here!
