Below is a photo of a fish that I infrequently catch on Sabiki rigs when gathering baitfish for slow trolling (That's offshore fishing for cobia, King Mackeral, barracuda, etc.) I've also brought this one up when bottom fishing with shrimp, squid or cut bait. I liked the color so much I kept one and put it in my aquarium. What is it?
This fish is 6 to 7 inches long, 2 to 3 inches tall and about 1/2 thick. In this photo, the colors are washed out, b/c from the stress of being hooked, decompressed, tossed around, manhandled and beamed up by Scottie. It has since regained its color and adapted well to life in a tank. It's not aggressive (except to live brown shrimp, yes the same ones humans eat!) At first it buried itself in the sand and rarely came out. Now it rarely buries itself and stays out almost constantly.
It has 1 or 2 "fangs" and some shorter teeth.

I think they're Caranx latus - but there are a couple of jacks that look similar.

I agree ,common names for this fish are Horse-eye jack , Bigeye jack .If it is then world and Florida record is 25 pounds, 12 ounces but averages 20 pounds or so ,so you should see them gain size pretty quick.
vince-1961 just wondering what part of Georgia are you in?
also being a fishing enthusiast I come across some interesting fish and end up bringing them home to put in my "local fish tank" and have learned a lot about there behavior really cool
