Well I wouldent put a fish in there long term. Maybe if there is a fish getting picked on or picking on everyone you could put it in there for a few days. How big is the part you would put the fish in???

Its about 15 gals of the entire tank. I was only planning on putting one or two fish.

A fuge is just water, some macro, and a tank, really no different than a display tank really other than it's function. My fugefor my 100gal is bigger than my 14" cube that my true percs are in. I dont see any problems with it.

Is it possible? Yes. Would I recommend it? No. Your fuge should be a predator free zone. This allows the cultivation of pods and other beneficial creatures that not only serve as a food source but also helps in removing detrious and other wastes that pods live off. Also your fuge serves as a natural filter with bacteria that filters your water. If you add a fish to this you will be adding waste to the filter. You want the water coming out of the fuge to be cleaner than when it went in. With fish in the fuge the water will still be soiled when it exits.

After reading this I agree. BUT as far as the health of the fish, I do not see any problems personally.

It all depends on what the point of your fuge is, and how the species fit with that goal. I know people that have their fuges just as visible as the main tank and do keep fish in there. If the the purpose of the fuge is nutrient export, that can work just fine. If you want to keep pods in there to seed the main tank, then obviously putting a pod eating fish in there is a bad idea. And so on.

I have a few cleanup critters in my fuge to keep the house up.. a couple urchins, hermits, and a snail or two, so you can certainly keep critters in them.
But andy makes the real point here... a refugium is just what the name implies. A safe haven for beneficial flora and fauna to reproduce so it can have it's benefit.
I have used a fuge though as a place to separate an aggressive fish. Make no mistake, it's not a quarantine tank, but it can be an isolation zone.
