fish jumping out of tank

I have had a reef tank for over 6 years and I have only had one fish jump out of my tanks until the last 6 months. Over the last 6 months I have had 4 fish jump out. I have not added any new fish that are chasing any of the fish. 2 were wrasses, a firefish, and beleive it or not my madarin jumped out. I know some of these fish are prone to jumping out, but I have had many of them for years, they are not new fish. What are you guys doing to keep fish in the tank. I am in my aquarium a lot and I hate glass tops. I need to be able to get in my aquarium often. I am thinking of making some sort of mesh cover. Just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on what has worked for them or not. Thanks

Plastic light diffuser panels (eggcrate) is a good alternative to glass tops.
I would ask why you are in your tank so often. This is upsetting to fish and might be part of the problem. Personally, I try to keep my hands out of my tanks as much as possible.

3 died and one was ok.
I was thinking of stray voltage as well. How do you check for stray voltage. I was also thinking of plastic eggcrate as well.
I am in my tank a few times a day 1-2 time for feeding/spot feeding, cleaning pumps, powerheads, and picking up corals that got knocked over. I am not in it like 10 times per day or anything. I just hate glass tops due to them being heavy to remove and getting salt creep that reduces light levels in tanks.
I felt so bad because my firefish jumped out last night and I stepped on him and killed him. He would have been fine if I would not have stepped on him. I feel like a jerk for not seeing him on the ground.
