fish keep carpet surfing. what to use? please help!!

I have lost two fish in the last two weeks, both were new fish, they jumped out of the tank in the middle of the night, all of my other fish are fine, i read somewhere on one of these boards about something that you could put on the water or on the canopy? called an eggcrate but i can't remember what exactly that i read, do any of you guys know what i am talking about, or do you have any advice on what i could do, a picture of this "eggcrae" stuff would be great.

You can use egg grate and if you have a canopy usually the back end is open cut a piece to the size and glue or nail or screw it on there so in the back there isnt any open spaces if you leave your tank open then cut 2 pieces to fit inside the trim of the tank

But where do you buy this stuff at, and a general discription of it would be great, i mean is it plastic, foam what?

Just go to your lowes or home depot. It is plastic and it is usally white but they might have different colors
