Fish List help....

Hi, just setup my new 75 Salt water tank. It's going to be Fish only (for now). Later on we will add some live rock and maybe an anemone (for the clowns).
Tank is, again 75 gal
Fluval 404 canister filter
2 - AquaClear 50 powerheads
Total GPH - ~850
45 lbs crushed coral
40 lbs live sand
decaroations are just some various fake coral
and a small air pump for a few "bubbles" :jumping: Gotta have bubbles!
Now, we made a few costly mistakes setting it up (UGF and painted rocks), which have been corrected now. Tank has been running for about 3 weeks and is close to being ready for fish.
Now before we make any more costly mistakes, I am going to get "Advice" this time.
We've put together a Fish List... and want to run it by the experienced Aquarium people BEFORE WE BUY.
We'd like

[hr]
3 yellowtail damsels [edited this]
1 yellow tang
2 ocellaris clownfish
1 auriga butterflyfish
When we add the live rock, we'd like to add.
1 flame angel fish
and 1 anemone
How does this FISH LIST sound?
Any comments welcome. :help:

the damsels will more then likly try to fight eachother. i would not get all three. you might be able to get 2 but even then they might still fight.

I don't care if they fight. They're cheap. They can kill each other for all I care. As long as they leave the other fish alone.
What if I got 3 damsels of the same breed?
My past fish experience......
Years ago (like 12), I used to be stationed on Okinawa Japan... I basically lived on a reef. I had a 55 gallon tank I kept stocked with what I could find/catch in tide pools.
I didn't know much about aquariums in those days. I just filled it with ocean water, rocks and whatever. Changed it out like once ever couple of months... and sometimes the fish along with it.
Long story short, I usually had 15 to 20 damsels in my tank at any given time (they were so easy to catch) and they never really were that mean with each other (that I can remember).
Anyway, they were kind of neat fish and are pretty, so I thought I'd throw a few in the tank.
Long term? I'm not that worried about the damsels making it. But I'd like to see the other fish listed (or whatever I end up with) do well.
Thanks
[edit]I just read elsewhere that yellowtail dansels do well in small groups of themselves, so I'd probably just get 3 of them, instead of a variety.[/edit]

Here is my opinion:

1) I think you may have a problem with the damsels picking on the other fish. Especially is the damsels are put into the tank first.
2) But the butterfly and angel need to be added much later (they both need a established tank)
3) I would recommend atleast 75lbs of LR total
4) You should only add one or two fish at a time, then wait for your bacteria to catch up to your bioload (couple weeks)
5) Anemones need special lights, reef lights, so check this out before you buy one
6) You should add the two clowns at the same time and try to get two that are different sizes (reducing the chance that they will fight)

Thanks
1) We got 2 blues yesterday. Little bitty fella's. Anyway, I'm not going to worry about a little "picking". As long as they don't do any damage, no harm done. Fish do that.
2) Thanks. That's the plan.
3) Why 75 lbs? Because of the Angel fish? BTW, I think we've decided on a Coral Beauty, instead of a Flame.
5) I've only heard this about coral. Were can I read about light requirements for anemones? I have 108 watts of 6500k flourescent. This isn't going to change.
Everything in it at this point is fake, with the exception of a few brokem pieces of dried coral and a clam.

First off alot of people will argue your crushed coral. I have always been a sand person after my accident that left my tank dead when the crushed croal got disturbed and turned the tank into milk. The 75 lbs of liverock is for all of your fish and especially the coral beauty or flame. They like to graze the rocks for algae and other stuff growing on it. Also have lots of rocks is good for hiding places at night and to keep your fish happy. The lighting needs to be in a higher range. You can get some nice lights for a FOWLR (fish only with live rock) for a cheap price. I have a 45 fowlr and my T-5 lights ran me 40 bucks and my bubble tip is just as happy as ever. But then again my bubble tip came out of my 125 reef which has $$$$$$$ lights on it. Good luck on your fish choices. I have a yellow tail damsel and he gets along with everyone, the only damsel i dont like that I cant get out of my tank is my 3 strip. Everything will work out.

if you do get an anemony dont get a condi, they will only rarely host clowns. But they do look pretty and are the cheapest anemony.
Here is mine

That's ok. I can argue back. ***)
What exactly do you mean by "left my tank dead when my crushed coral got disturbed and turned the tank into milk"?
They make filters for powerheads you know... that will clear the water up in like... an hour or two? Notice the filters I have on my powerheads. Just a few hours prior to this photo, I was digging, hiding the air hoses and the tank was so cloudy, you couldn't see anything.
I don't see how clouding up the water a bit by stirring up the coral will "make your tank dead".
I do plan to add another 40lbs of sand on top of what I have next. so the majority of my base will be sand.
The lighting you see in this picture is not what I'll have in it soon. Those are very low temp bulbs I had in a drawer. Probably 2700k household bulbs. I have 4, 6500k bulbs on the way. And a bit brighter. I'll post a pic when I get them in.
Anyway, this thread is about my "Fish List".
rara12, thanks for that tip. After doing some reading, I will probably not get an anemone. At least unless I can find one that can thrive in the light levels I will have for my tank.
Again, this is going to be a "fish only" tank. If the anemone is more suited for a reef tank, then I'll leave it at that.
