Fish not eating

Ok I got a bicolored angel on Sunday. Although he seem to be ok and adjusting, he is not eating. Im feeding him frozen food which the LFS Guy said would be ok. Should I try somethig else or wait a few more days? Oh here is his picture. Help me keep this one alive!

Mine eats frozen brine, flake and also the little balls that sink slowly, plus grazes all day long on my LR. He really started eating better when I added more fish. What else do you have in there and what size of tank?

Two days is not terribly long for a new fish not to eat. It may take a bit longer for it to settle in. Bicolors are not the hardiest of centropyge angels so keep an eye on this fish. Not sure what type of frozen food you're offering but angels do best with a large variety of foods. Offer chopped mussel, clam, mysis shrimp, blood worms, sponge based foods, pellets, plankton, things like Emerald Entree, Marine Cuisine, etc.. Also regular greens like nori will satisfy it's grazing needs. How old is the tank and how much live rock do you have? IME these are key factors in keeping angels alive.

ya know, Im not sure og the weight but I do have about 5 pieces of live rock and will be adding more. My tank is 6 months old now. Do they like seaweed? I have some of that lift over from my tang that died. I'll get som frozen brine tomorrow.

I'm not sure how similar these angels are, but I have a coral beauty that just LOVES the Formula 2 flake, flake (nutritionally enhanced) brine shrimp, and frozen prime reef as a treat. Maybe there's something to be said about giving your angel some variety...oh, by the way, my clowns enjoy all of these things too, plus the meat that I feed my brittles and coral banded shrimp.
Just keep trying different foods, I'm sure you'll hit on one that she can't resist, then BOOM...everything looks great!!
I have tried to give my angel algea on a clip (the brown stuff), but she really hasn't shown any interest in it, so I gave up on it. Your's might be different though, give it a try!!
Beautiful fish, by the way. Best of luck with her.

Mine "grazes" all day too. I think half the time he is eating pods off the LR and other times it's greens. I always make sure the LFS feeds the fish before I buy and then see what he or she is eating. Just my $.02. Hope she comes around. I'm sure she will though. Very beautiful fish. I hear you either get one that eats well or doesn't. Good Luck
Lisa- I need to try that too. (sea weed clip)

Oh, another thought too. If your parameters are good, maybe you could add another. In my 55 I have
1- yellow Tang (total pig) and yes a larger tank is in the works. "Lemon Pie"
2-Firefish Gobies "Flame- On and Flame -Off"
1- Bi color Angel (Oriole angel) "Pretty Girl"
1-Bangaii Cardinal "She Bang"
1- Emerald Crab
1-Cleaner Shrimp
1- Peppermint Shrimp
30- blue leg hermits
4- Scarlet Hermits
35 assorted snails
1-Sea Star

yeah, I forgot to mention too that my Coral Beauty grazes constantly on the rocks and glass...between feedings

Hot883, as far as the algea clips go, I was thinking of perhaps trying a different kind of algae on my clip...but my angel eats so much...:notsure:

Lisa, my Tang and Angel are both pigs. I have been feeding the tank everyother day with frozen brine, flak and the other slow falling little balls (can't remember the name)

It's too late! she died this am.
I ready to totally give up. And before anyone asked ALL my levels were PERFECT! Verything I put in this tank Dies! So now Im back to square one. I took her back to the LFS where I got here and they could not find anything either. They gave me a credit for the fish and suggested I put some damsels in there and see what happends. If they die, I'll do a 40%-50% water change and start over. So this is what i have now
3 damsels
3 snails
3 small hermits
and Live Rock
I'll keep you posted!

Bi-color angels are notorious for not eating and for not living very long, after they are captured.
Some other types of angels do better, but angels in general are a more delicate fish.
Try some clownfish, or gobies, or blennies or a wrasse,

IIm starting from scratch I think I need to do a water change and start off with damsels again. then, If I can keep them alive for about a month I'll get a nemo.

Ok, how about having the stray voltage checked? They sell grounding probes that takes that away. That could be whats killing everything. Think also what could be in the tank or water that could not show up on normal tests. Bleached piece of coral, etc. Any airborne contaminants like hairspray, lysol, air fresherners, fresh paint etc. PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP! Sorry for the loss, but there is something that's not right and it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Tap water, stray voltage, air contaminants would be my first suspects to look for or at. Putting damsels in there is not going to figure anything out IMO. Let's not kill more fish but help this hobbiest out of the perdicament. (sp)

What size is your tank? Filters? Skimmer? I would suggest staying clear of angelfish and tangs. These fish are not for new hobbyists.

I found that out the hard way. The LFS guys just sells you the fish and almost never tell the truth about them . I asked the guy who sold me the angel, was it a hardy fish because I took a few L's, And what did he tell me?!
the exact opposite of what everyone else on here said. Now although I went through all this b4, I'll tell you. But I may have found out, with the help of Ophiura what was wrong. But first. I have a 55gal, canister filter with a skimmer and a filter that hangs on the back of the tank.
The tank is 6 months old. All level are perfect. I have no other pets, do not use hair stray, or spray anything around my tank. The voltage thing can be ruled out because i have had a damsel the has been surviving for 3 months now. But what I have discovered is that my be the problem is a Black rock. see my thread "black rock" for pics. I found this nice looking black rock on the beach about a year ago. I knew that I was going to start a salt water tank and thought that it would look really cool in the tank. So it has been in there ever since I started it. that's the only thing I can think of. With the exception of my mean ass damsel which I took back to the store today. So Im going to do a 20% water change this week and another one next week and watch the curent occupents to see what they do. what do you guys think?

So throw the big black chunk of tar out. Do a 50%water change wait a couple of weeks and add 1 fish IMO.
