i haven't but it seems a gamble either way
1. it is very rare to find a good petstore, but if you found one i would go there because there is very little stress in the transporting.
2. online places have better prices but the shipping costs alot and you cant see the facilities but places like these often have ways of finding out. like moderators or the e-mail address

Im starting to think that online fish is the only way to go. I purchased several fish from a lfs here and to this day I have one remaining of the original 9 I purchased in my tank. The thing with MOST local fish stores is that they keep all their fish in the same exact water. Most of the fish that come in probably have ich or some other diseases that they are giving to all the other fish out there.... not cool. I purchased a yellow tang from saltwaterfish.com... guess who is swimming around my tank RIGHT now? :) Doing awesome too. Most beautiful yellow tang i've ever seen. People often look at my tank and go 'man I think I should get one of those yellow tangs'.
Also most online fish sellers give large money back guarntees on how long a fish will survive. Some i've seen even go up to 14 days... thats saying a lot.

Most online vendors are either right by the ocean or get the fish from wholesalers by the ocean. The pet stores usually have fish that have been in lots of tanks in a very short time. I have never lost any fish from buying online. All of my fish but one are from online vendors and all but 2 where purchased over 4 years ago.

yea i like online too....yes the shipping is more but if you buy it with some other critters or coral then the shipping isnt all that bad. it was hard for me to trust getting fish online, i couldnt grasp the idea of fish arriving at my door in little baggies. i still have my cleanup crew i ordered and my watchman goby. i also order all my drygoods online too. ill be making a another purchase soon , and i plan on going through the internet again. ive also had great luck with ordering on that popular auction website. just make sure they are rated good and dont be afraid to ask alot of questions.

I recently purchased a fish on line and honestly believe it was healthier than what is available in most local saltwater fish stores here in Houston. I would definitely do it again h*
