i have an established fish only tank that has been up and running for 2 years now. i have been thinking about taking the live rock out of the tank and moving it to my reef tank. the liverock is figi premium great purple colors. huge pieces and there is about 25 lbs of it. removing the lr from the tank would have what kind of effects on the tank. thanx for any responses.
29 gallon tank
2 inches crushed coral
25 lbs live rock
coral beauty
blood shrimp
yellow goby
pajama cardinal
2 peppermint shrimp
1 blue star
2 emeral crabs
20 snails
15 hermits
ph 8.2
nitrites 0ppm
ammonia 0 ppm
nitrates 30 ppm
only have a 40-60 millinium power filter. no skimmer no special lights, just normal florescents

Because you have no skimmer, a weak filter, and already have 30ppm nitrates, taking out the live rock would be a very bad idea. Your tank would be very unstable if you did this, and you would probably see the nitrates go up a lot.

thanx for the advice, i will leave it alone. just that good live rock is hard to come by now a days and it is getting very expensive.
