I haven't checked the copper level to see if there is still any in it.
My levels all test great.
The 2 oldest fish i have is the 3 stripe damsel & the purple pigme angelfish.
Sometimes i siphone the cc, but not everytime.
I don't know if my tap water adds nitrates to my water or phosphates.
Yes, that's the only filtration i use.
Yes, those fish are my current stock, & they range in size of probably 1-3" mostly.
The grouper i have had for 4 months & he hasn't grown much at all, he's probably not quite 3", which i'm glad honestly, i was hoping he wouldn't grow much & outgrow my tank.
What problems have you encountered?

if you are planing on going (No) this route plan on doing alot of water changes. my hardest problem was keeping my peramiters in check. thats y i went with LR and ever sence i havnt had a single problem (do you believe that the LR made all the parameters acceptable, incuding nitrate and phosphate?). i even ran this tank using tap water so i guess it shows how much of a noob i was. lots of algee, had to clean every day. its totally doable but i wouldnt ever do it again (why not? Is it more complicated even with the experience you have gained? Or is it your opininon that it just does not work out setting it up like that?).
Thank you for your concern. I am not planning on doing this, I am just curious as to the type of setups that people have done and the related problems they have/had with them. As I stated above I have multiple tanks going and none are TRUE FO. They all have, what I consider "live rock".
When you mean parameters, which ones are you talking in specific (ie. nitrates, phosphates, Ph, alkalinity)?

i was having problems with everything staying normal. i was getting amonia, then lots of trates, Ph seemed to stay noraml for what i can remember, i just know that i was doing alot of water changed. i almos gave up on the hobby cuz of that(water changes and uncontrolable peram.)

I also had a FO tank with not one piece of LR for about 5 years, it had a wet/dry with bioballs, decent skimmer and UV sterilizer....It was pretty overstocked, the nitrates I suspect were always high, but I almost never tested because my fish were so healthy (I had a 3+ year strech with no deaths
). I had an Achilles Tang, Naso (probably not a good choice in a 130 but I was a beginner), Lunare, Huma, Niger, Puffer, and Snowflake Eel. No fake plants, just fake corals.

What made you stop running this tank, If you do not have it anymore?
Would you considered this setup to be succesfull?
If not, why not?
If you were to do this again, would you?
If so what would you do different?

I travel quite a bit. How difficult will it be if I decide to set up a reef tank?
Not sure. I do not do reefs, and do not plan on doing them.

I have a 55g that is FO-it has been up 3 years. I also use it for my QT tank. It has a lined puffer in it as it's only permanent occupant. He doesn't play well with inverts. I run a Marineland 500 HOB filter and a Cascade 600 internal filter.I have no sand or gravel or decorations. I have 3 - 2 1/2" pvc sections for shelter for the new fish. The 3 newest fish will be going to the DT next week and I am going to get a trigger, add sand, some dead rock and plastic plants and make it a FO set up. I am then going to convert my other 55g for a QT. But, other than using it for QT the last year, it has always been FO.

In time the rock will be "live rock" and you will have a FOWLR). I am then going to convert my other 55g for a QT. But, other than using it for QT the last year, it has always been FO.
Have you had any problems with it, water quality or so?

It was originally a DT, for 2 years.
I test 2-3 x a week during QT-rarely when nothing is in QT-never have had an ammonia or nitrate spike after it was cycled.
It might grow algae, but it certainly would not be LR. LR has alot of other critters that hitchhike. Algae doesn't make it "live", or else I have "live glass"
