Fish-Only with LR and LS

I am not ready to jump right into a Reef Tank so i am going to do a Fish-Only tank. But i still want live rock and live sand. Do they need special lighting or will the lighting requirements for a Fish-Only tank be okay (something like 1-3W per gallon)?????
Im getting a 55 Gallon Rectangle or Bowfront Tank.

You should be fine with around 1.5 watts per gallon. Thats what I run on my FO tanks with LR and the LR is doing fine.

One last thing is you should also add supplements for the LR. Calcium should be kept around 400ppm. I monitor this about ounce a month to make sure the calcium levels are correct.

for good corraline growth you need calcium and alkalinity levels.
