Fish Pond

While I know most of the posts are tanks, and I have put a few up of my SW tanks, I thought some people might get a kick out of this.
When I bought my house I was insistent on putting in a fish pond. I went about on a four month task of digging, setting up filtration, building etc. This was about 5 years ago. After up and running for about 2 months, I added in 6 small Koi.
Since then the fish have reproduced, way to frequently, about 20 - 30 offspring a year, with 10 or so surviving. It is now 4 years later and have about 40 fish in the pond, the large ones being about 14" or so and the small ones about 3 - 4".
To give you an idea of the dimensions, at the widest point it is about 18' by about 14' and about 5' deep in the middle and about 18" on the edges. The waterfall is about 4' high.
Here are two pictures.

Thats a really nice pond. And huge! Nice job.
Actually, I too want to have a nice pond in my back yard when I have a house. I saw a wonderful one this summer at a wildflower farm in central texas. It was two levels, with a stream and a bridge. I would love to have one that filled most of my yard, that means less mowing for me.

Looks good! I used to build those for a landscaping company last summer. They are very nice and relaxing! Here is a pic of a 30 footer we did. Had a beach type area to walk right in ... the falls are about 8' high. Most of the rocks took a large tractor to place.

Thats the type of design I have in mind. How much did something like that cost? Although, I'm pretty sure I could do it myself.
