Yesterday I noticed that my perc clown is missing bits of his fins. I have a yellowtailed damsel and for about 2 months now they have been fine. Dioes anyone think that the damsel did this damage? Also will the clown recover?:notsure:

Is it all of the clowns fins? Is the clown or the damsel new to the aquarium or have they both been in there the same amount of time? Is your aquarium still in its cycling period?
Damsels can be aggressive to other fish sometimes. Fish fins usually heal up, but if the damsel is attacking it then it will continue getting worse. Fish fins also can get like that with stress. That's why I asked if your aquarium is still in its cycling period.

The tank has been up and running for about 4 months. The damsel has been in there since the beginning and the clown a little over a month. But they seem fine together, I never see the damsel attacking the clown.

I'm set in my ways....Clowns are the one fish that I won't keep with damsels (damsel = fin-nipper) IMO

I have 5 damsels with 1 clown and I don't have problem. I actually have one damsel that seems to be "friends" with the clown

Just went through a battle, trying to catch my yellow tail who was terrorizing our beautiful scotts damsel. Finally had to take the rock he was hiding in out and trapped him that way. I might have shaken him out of the rock a little to rough from frustration but I got him! To bad someone hasn't come up with an invisible net!
Good luck catching him!
