fish recommendation

hi...
right now we have a 37 gallon salt tank...
1- emerald crab
1- yellowtailed blue damsel
1- 3 stripe damsel
a few snails and hermit crabs for clean-up crew...
my wife wants a yellow tang..but from want i have read our tank is too small...
so we are considering these fish:
bicolor angelfish
clown fish...aka nemo
any other suggestions??

Any coral? How about the;
(Centropyge flavissimus) Lemonpeel Angelfish

or the;
(Centropyge heraldi) Yellow Angelfish

I only mention these because of the yellow color if that is what draws your wife to the tang.
I mention the coral aspect because with any of the angels you are taking a chance that they may nip at your coral. Both those mentioned here are dwarfs by the way so would fit well in your tank. The unfortunate thing is the Damsels will get more and more aggressive as they age.

no coral as of now...only planning on 1-2 pieces...our local store has a bicolored angel fish...blue and yellow one...from what i read we cant have to angels in one tank..they fight...

IMO you should take out the damsels only because as they get bigger they will become very teritorial in that small of a tank and it will limit your fish options.

I agree. "How to remove damsels" is one of the most common questions on this forum. Pretty little fish; but become absolute dictators. BTW,did your lfs suggest using damsels as "cycle starter fish"?

I agree but disagree....LOL...I have a yellow tail damsel and it is one of my calmest fish....BUT I have 2 3 spot damsels and they attack me

Last night they attacked the magnet as I was cleaning the glass...
SOOO...maybe keep the yellow tail (doesn't get that big) and get rid of the stripes...If you want tiny fish that are yellow...look at the yellow clown gobies...I have a pair in each of my tanks...They are very cute and entertaining too.

My 225g....YES I know it's a bigger tank....I'm talking temperament though...the yellow tail is peaceful...the others

The species Chrysiptera Damsels are in general some of the more calm, if you can use that in the same sentece, of the damsels. I had a C.talboti for a while and it was a great fish.

Solve the fish problem and make your main pet happy. Feed the damsels to the cat.

and yes meowzer I think it would have a much different atitude if it was in a 37g instead of your 225, in your tank it has much more swimming room and his own teritory, in a 37g he has to share with other fish and that will piss him off.

I see the point there, but the yellow tail stays small....I'd still keep it...That's just me...It was actually one of my first fish

well atleast you see the point, he can keep the damsles if he really likes them but if he doesn't then I would bring them back to the fish store so you don't have to worry about their aggresion.

I had a 3 stripe damsel in a 15g and it used to attack ME when I put my hand in. So, IMO, 2 damsels along with a clown could be an issue. Certainly the 3 stripe will get to be a bully.
How much LR is in the tank and how old is the tank? An angelfish should never, IMO, be an "early" fish in the tank and if there is not much LR it may suffer as well.

I would not confirm that until I saw a picture. There are several names for damsels. Some are relatively less aggressive. Personally I think any damsel is a risk in a smaller system, and if they want a clown, they may need to make a choice.

its a fairly new tank...that is my concern...maybe not enough algae for the angel fish...so give me some recommendations for fish please...maybe 2 nemos...??
