Fish-safe Glue?

I'm finishing off a DIY overflow box, if you want to call it that, made out of 1/2 inch PVC tubing and was planning on sealing the joints with Lepage #5 Plastic adhesive. Its non toxic and water resistant. Would this be a safe bet considering some of it will be derectly exposed to the water in the tank? Is there something else I should be using?

dont use that. you said it was water RESISTANT. you want water proof........ duh! lol
the awter resistant one will probably become weak after a while. get weldon number 16 glue. wroks great for acrylic and is water proof. that is my suggestion. i got some to make the same thing along with a sump/refuge...... that is, after i spent 75 bucks on acrylic my mom said i couldnt build it cause she would be afraid that it would fall thought the ceiling with the weight of my tank! we are goign to get a friend who is a carpenter come and see what he things and also how much it owuld cost to renforce it.
oh wait.... i jsut re-red your post.... you are making the overflow out of PVC? in which case, dont use weldon..... use another waterproof PVC glue. i am not sure of one off hand. sorry

Marine goop works fine for a multitude of sealing, as does silicone. There is a vast difference between water resistence and water proof. Not knmowing exactly what material your wanting to seal to what, perhpas if you gave a bit more info a better and more suitable sealant oculd be used than silicone or marine goop. If your merely glueing up the joints use PVC cement........but what material are you sealing what to if the pvc into a hot box or what? Weldon is not very well suited for PVC.

For PVC use PVC glue, for acrylic use acrylic glue. It's very important to use a product designed for the specific plastic material you're working with. PVC, Acrylic & ABS glues don't just glue the parts together, they react with the material creating a weld. As far as I know they are all safe.

Regular PVC glue will glue acrylic to PVC for a quick reference, but just as mentioned earlier if using acrylic use acrylic solvent for the job
