im working on a 125g fish only tank. its going to be a month before i put any fish in it however i'm having difficulty figuring out what's compatible with what. here is a short list of fish i am interested in, and as far as the compatibility guide on this site is concerned, they are all easy to care for with bold or semi-aggressive temperments. what do you think:
Volitan lion
3 yellow tangs
humu humu trigger
porcupine puffer

i think if the yellow tangs and lion would go together then that would be my preference. what are some other colorful fish that would go well with these guys?

i am also wondering what kind of inverts i can have in a FOWLR tank. i'm really attracted to starfish, crabs, and scallops.

i would skip the lion. he will (mostlikly) eat alot of your inverts. my father has a lion and the only thing he can keep are large hermits, the lion eats the snails if they live(cannot survive in his water???) and the starfish he had for +3 year was the first thing he ate. i think the 3 tangs in the tank would be awsome. but i would do:
2 yellows
1 hippo
1 or 2 smaller peiceful fish
but that is me.
i would def skip the lion tough

yeah, after looking around and weighing out pros/cons, i think i'm going to go for a reef system after all, so definately no lion.

start out buying MH's you will eventually buy them down the road. so save some cash and buy them now. but thats just what i learned. i just spend $200 on lights for a 20g nano and now my GF wants anem. so i will need better lights.

good luck-hope you have a good job that pays lots cuz you will need the cash
