i have a 40 gallon flat back hexagon tank. it is labeled "strech hex" at the stores. well, i am planning on making it a reef. the fish list as of now is
*clown goby (1)
*clown fish (2)
*snowflake eel (1)
so what else? anything?

I dont think an eel will fit in that tank. also it will prob eat your clowns gobie and clown

I'll second that about the eel. Unless you're planning on using the clown & goby as his dinner.

lol, i third it, i'd drop the eel, they need a 55, and i'd say go with
1 clown goby
2 false percs
1 royal gramma
1 sixline wrasse
20 hermits
20 snails
a cuple shrimp (cleaner,peppermint,fire,coral banded(my favorite))

The eel maybe be kept w/only a few other occupants, I'm not entirely sure about size, but it is a concern. But they probably WONT eat your other fish because they are mostly crustacean eaters, I just got one for my 55g and he's pretty awesome. Look at your tank and imagine a 2 foot plus eel in there. They aren't very active, but they still need some room. I'll try to look when I get home for some other fish that would be good.

im no expert but i've read that the snowflake eel was quite agressive like most eels. i was almost fooled into purchasing one because of the low price! Good luck with your aquarium!

I've heard the opposite, but I've also heard that their disposition can vary a lot: docile, agressive, active, lazy.

The "hexagon" part is the killer. They really rob you of swimmable space. SFE, not a good choice in that size of tank or with those other fish. Sorry.

ok, so i drop the SF eel. also, i have had a royal gramma before, and bought it from a reefer but do the ones from LFS eat good? cuz my was 4-5 inches and had a little time before it ate.
PS what can keep my sand clean besides the hermits. maybe a diamond goby added the same time as the clown goby? thanks for the replys
