FISH TANK NOISE - PUMP and Return

Please help me. I have just setup my new tank and have a gen x 4100 and it is kinda loud. it is to go in my office waiting room under my tank. I is louder than the reef ready return. Do i need to buy a quiteer pump. I have it on suction cups and not hitting the sump. it is just noisey?

Have you tried a sponge under the pump? If you are looking for a quiet pump, I'd go with Eheim or Sequience but they are somewhat more expensive than your standard Mag pumps etc.

Well right now I have a GEN x 4100. So is a Mag drive better?
I have an oceanic 76g half circle with one overflow. So they sold me the 4100 to give around 1000 gph, it works fine, but noisey from vibrations. I plugged it into a garbage can with water and still same noise while holding cord so it doesn't touch anything and went to the pet smart and bought a quite one brand and it is a little quieter.
I need a pump that is as quiet as a canister filter from RENA. Do they make such a thing. It is in my waiting room and loud.

Eheim 1262 gives out 910 and it IS quiet. They run about $130. You will not regret getting one. They use less energy and don't generate as much heat.
