can i add 1 or 2 fish from my tank that already has a skimmer to my new tank? its a 90g with 90# or lr. i would just add my clown fish and little grreen spotted brackish puffer. im sure between the 2 of them the bio load is going to be small. im working on getting a skimmer this week...
would having these fish with out a skimmer make my parameters go up? and if they did go up would the skimmer(once added in a week) get rid of them>
thanks in advance

When i first started saltwater fish i had no idea about this tank or what a skimmer was. Ive kept a clownfish for about a year or so without a skimmer.
But you should get a skimmer

i have read many post where people have had great success running a tank with out a skimmer. i like have a skimmer on my tanks after seeing what they pull out of the water. to answer your question....your fish will do fine with out a skimmer...IMO they will do better with one.

Skimmers remove excess particulates, particularly proteins, (pun intended) from the water. Other than improving overall water quality they curb algae growth by removing it's food source from the water column.
you'll be fine for a while without one.

I kept fish just fine for years without a skimmer. You don't have to have one, but it's better.

when i first started up salt water tanks i never new what a protien skimmer was ran it for a year with no problems i only had 3 fish and 10 snails

I just started a 55g FOWLR and don't have a skimmer but I noticed a bit of "stuff" on the surface, so I pointed one of my powerheads up and it kinda circulates things. I don't plan on getting one anytime soon because I have my tank set up so it can be viewed from all angles and I don't want too much equipment blocking the view. It is working out fine so far, but I may end up getting a small one in a year or so.
Where are you from in NJ Peckhead? I am from Morristown originally and went to Stockton. It's tough to find decent fish stores down here. I might know where you can find some up there depending on where you live.

its way better to run a skimmer .
its like having a house without a washing machine or a vaccum cleaner the house will still be there but the enviroment may not be the best

yes go ahead and run without a skimmer for a couple days :) i ran my 20 gallon for over a couple months without one and only had nitrate/phosphate problems.
