I got a new koralia 3 powerhead today and put it in my tank. It wasnt in there for more than 10 minutes and my copper banded butterfly went beserk and jumped out of the tank straight up and landed in the water. He then died within a matter of minutes. Did I add to much flow to the tank its a 55 gallon all parameters normal. He's been fine for the month and a half ive had him.

Check for stray voltage coming through the power head. The increased flow would not have done that.

how do I check for stray voltage? The clowns acted a little strange but are fine now and the moorish idol paid little to no attention to the powerhead and he still swims near it.

Sounds like a bad ground to me as well. You should be able to pick one up for around $10. And if its not it you aren't out much. I have always run one after a similar problem I had with a new pump years ago!

I agree about the moorish idol, it will get way too big. and if it is not eating prepared foods yet, there is no way that it will find enough food in a 55 gallon

I am glad that you got a refund on the PH, but an Idol in a 55?
