Flame Angel reef safe?

My LFS owner said that Flame Angels are not reef safe. But I have seen some peoples tanks with them and coral.
Are they reef safe? I am thinking about getting one but I want to have coral soon too.

Technically, 99% of angels are not reef safe. Flame Angels are classified as caution. I have a Potters and a Flame in my reef, and they do not pick on any coral, but you never know.
If you don't want to take a chance with your coral, then don't do it.

AIt seems that Flames are "reef safe" in the angel group meaning that they MAY pick at corals or clams. Most angels are considered a definite no when it comes to reef tanks. I have a reef tank and am considering one. I am trying to figure out if there are certain corals that an angel likes. If so, I might avoid those corals but right now I don't know. I also wonder if a well feed angel woulf be more likely to leave your corals alone. It's not like in the wild that they have someone bringing them free food everyday!

this question has been asked millions of times. its really 50/50 when it comes to flame angels. i hv one with corals and clams, and its safe. it likes to nip at things, but no damage. kind of corals certainly increases the chance. most dwarfs from i read, if they do eat, r corals such as brains. i hv brain corals, and it hasnt bothered any of them. i took a chance 14 months ago when purchased the flame, and it worked out.

Yes, but new people need to learn the board to, a simple search of "Flame Angel" and this question is answered a million times. It gets asked at least once a week. I don't mind answering, but people should learn the search feature too. If I didn't want to answer at all, I wouldn't have even opened the thread.

It's 50/50 I watched my friends nip his duncan, and frogspawn infront of me last week. Now it has a nice home at our LFS.

I have a coco worm in my reef and my flame doesnt touch it. It is busy all day chasing pods and it is fat as hell. Doesnt nip at anything. Generally, Flames and coral beauty's are reef safe as long as they are well fed.
