I think if you do a search here on the board you will find that most have had problems with them eventually. Most posts I read here and on other boards start off with "a fine citizen" and end up with "how do I catch the flame angel, it is eating my coral"

I was having decent luck (minus him eating xenia) until Ike got the little booger.

Yeah I think most do. They usually get the "I think I'll destroy this place" attitude somewhere down the road. I have never owned one for that reason but what a beautiful fish.

I have had no issues with mine to date. He how ever would not tolorate being in the same tank with a bicolored angel. I had a flame in a previous tank that was social and tolorated other dwarf angels.

Mines been in about 2 weeks and he's been great so far. No problems, knock on wood. I have a 75 gallon with a lot of LR so he has always been in and out of that picking at the rock.

thanks for the replies. Was hoping one of these would be my next selection but maybe I'll just go with something else.

Thanks for all the advice on the Flame angel. Went with a Blue Hippo tang instead. Hope he is OK

I had a coral beauty in with my corals all types
with no issues until I dropped in a flame angel.
The flame didnt bother my corals because
he didnt have a moment to look at them. The coral
beauty had his lips glued to the flames butt. I removed
the flame immediately. He almost jumped in the net
on his own after his 5 min marathon. Took him back
right away still healthy.

You get your flasher wrasse from SWF.com?
I had a flame and a coral beauty in a 180 with no problems, when it decided it no longer wanted to hold water, I put the in a 58 and never had a problem. But I guess I was just lucky.

fau8 and srothenberg do you have coral in your tanks, or just fish only with live rock?
I do have coral, its no where near a full blown reef but I have some Xenia, Hammers, Zoas, Mushrooms and a Brain.

I actually havent gotten them yet. As far as I know swf doesnt carry
the McCoskers flasher or I would. Drs fos---- & Sm---. I was researching
to make sure they're ok with shrimp and received confirmation just
yesterday that they are. Now I need to know if I can get 1 at a time
or does the group need to be added at the same time. They are suppose
to keep better color if kept with 1 male and 2 or more females.
