I have 2 tanks one 265 gallons the other 90 gallons. Until recently I had a flame hawk in both tanks. The on in the 90 started to get agressive. He didnt mess with my fish he went after my shrimp. I didnt know he was eating them until the other day a put a new cleaner shrimp in the tank and 2 hours a saw the shrimps feelers sticking out of his mouth. That was a $30 snack. He has since been removed from the tank. I have never had a problem with the one in the bis tank.

i have a cleaner shrimp...but im willing to risk it for the flame. was the hawk aggressive with fish in your tank? or did he just eat shrimp?
hopefully i get my hawk when its small and since my cleaner is big maybe there wont be any expensive snacks for me.

From the way I read his post it was aggressive with shrimp in his 90, not his fish. Flamehawks are not indiscriminate killers with regards to shrimp, but shrimp are part of their diet in the wild. They see shrimp as a food source, but if the shrimp is large enough they often do not target them. I'd give it 50/50 odds. If you get a small Flame your odds increase. Also, the fact the the cleaner is already in the tank will help.
You will love your Flame though. Their curiosity is unmatched. Your fish will be fine.

coral and falco are much less shy and full of personality compared to the flames but the flames got looks going for it.
